FALLS CITY – A Hiawatha man is charged with firing a handgun during a bar scuffle in Falls City on Dec. 29.

Court records say 44-year-old Ulisses Rivera-Fuentes fired a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver. He is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony and assault.

An arrest affidavit says Falls City police were directed to the Would Eye Bar because there was a fight in progress shortly after midnight.

The officer told the court that he was met by people exiting the bar that told him a man was inside with a gun. The officer said he entered to find Fuentes laying on the ground with the handgun two feet away.

The police officer said he heard another man, identified as Mr. Ivy, asking Fuentes why he had shot him.

The affidavit says video from a security camera shows a scuffle between people identified in the affidavit as Fuentes,  Mr. Rose and Mr. Ivy. The scuffle goes off camera and witnesses told police that is when Fuentes pulled the gun and fired it.
