Pair suspected of firearms burglary in Burr
Emporia police serve search warrant of Highway 50 hotel
NEBRASKA CITY – Suspects in a firearms burglary in Otoe County have been arrested in Emporia, Kan.
Wyatt Everly, 30, and Mariel Martin, 35, both of Emporia, are suspected of a burglary at a Burr residence where 39 firearms and ammunition were stolen from a safe.
An Otoe County investigation led to Emporia. Police Sgt. Lisa Hayes said officers located a stolen vehicle Sunday in the parking lot of a Highway 50 hotel and obtained a search warrant.
A KVOE Radio report says officers found stolen firearms, as well as methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana in the hotel room.
Otoe County authorities say at least five of the weapons recovered in Emporia can be linked to the Burr burglary.
Otoe County has filed arrest warrants for the pair who are held in Lyon County. The sheriff’s office began the investigation of the Burr burglary on Nov. 14.
