Syracuse mayor takes oath at virtual meeting

SYRACUSE - For the first time in the history of the city of Syracuse the new mayor-elect was sworn in virtually.

Mayor-elect Deb Dettmer and  city council members Wesley Halvorsen and Orville Gigstad took their oaths of office at Wednesday’s virtual city council meeting.

With Mayor KC Ortiz leaving office there were  just a few clean up projects on  the agenda to discuss,  then mayor elect Dettmer stepped into office with a full agenda.

Items included new rescue squad members,  update utility policies, future land use and transportation map and zoning map.

Under  new business,  was the Zito media franchise agreement.
