NEBRASKA CITY – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports a Monday traffic stop that resulted in firearms charges against a Nevada pair.

A sheriff’s K9 Blaze was deployed at the stop on Highway 2 near the Syracuse interchange and indicated to the presence of illegal contraband.

A sheriff’s office press release says deputies located an AR-15 rifle, shotgun, and Tec-9 and 4 handguns in the trunk. Deputies also located a loaded handgun in a backpack in the passenger compartment.

The press release says deputies found marijuana and $23,900 in cash in the vehicle. A records check of the firearm from the backpack indicated it had been stolen from Missouri.

Guy Rogers, 22, of Gardenville and Kathleen James, 19, of Carson City are suspected of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and false reporting.

The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation with the Department of Homeland Security and the ATF.
