WEEPING WATER – Firefighters from five jurisdictions were called Thursday afternoon for a barn fire south of the Cass County Fairgrounds.

Fire destroyed a building containing a tractor and livestock trailer on property owned by Galen Vogler Life Estate. It was brought under control before engulfing other nearby structures.

Weeping Water, Avoca and Manley units were first dispatched. Water tankers from Murray, Murdock and Louisville were also requested.

Firefighters arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames. It was brought under control Thursday, but rekindled early Friday morning.

A dispatch from Cass County Emergency Management said a person injured from the fire was brought to the office on the fairgrounds. The person was taken to a Lincoln hospital.
