OMAHA – Cody Rhyne, 31, has been sentenced in federal court to 84 months in prison for possession of meth with intent to distribute and a consecutive 60-month term for possession of  firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Rhyne was arrested after a controlled buy in Falls City.

Federal authorities said Rhyne fled arrest in a purple Cadillac at speeds of 105 mph, but his car ran out of gas south of Humboldt. Rhyne fled on foot, but was apprehended by Richardson County sheriff’s deputies. Investigators say the $430 in buy money was still in his pocket.

A 9 mm handgun and 304 grams of meth were found in the Cadillac.

The 12-year sentence came after a plea agreement. Court records say Rhyne told investigators he intended to sell meth to an additional buyer in Falls City had he not been arrested.
