Auburn's sales taxes rebound in May

AUBURN – Sales tax collections in Auburn dipped to a five-year low at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, but rebounded for a record-high in May.

The city reports the lowest sales taxes since 2015 in March and reduced sales tax collections in April.

The $43,748 collected in May is Auburn’s highest May on record, however.

Overall, the city has collected $14,800 less in sales taxes since the pandemic was declared in March.
