Nebraska State Fair Invites Yarn Bombers To Compete In Tree Decorating Contest
Fair claims to be first for statewide contest
GRAND ISLAND – The Nebraska State Fair is inviting the entire state to participate in a tree decorating contest this year.

A state fair press release says “yarn bombing” of trees along the State Fair Boulevard has been such a success, the Nebraska State Fair is eager to be the first state fair in the nation to offer it as a statewide contest.
Director of Sponsorships Laura Hurley said the crafty “tree bombing” allows people, businesses and organizations throughout the state a chance to compete.
Participants have until Aug. 31 to decorate the tree of their choice and submit photos of their work of art.
Hurley: “We encourage using cheerful and entertaining themes, much like the fair to incorporate into their display.”
Guidelines are found by searching under contests at statefair.org.

Prizes will be awarded by Sept. 30.
