UPDATE: Message In A Bottle Traveled From Omaha To Missouri, Sender And Finder Connect

It was 1983 when Bill Desh of Omaha threw a bottle into the Missouri River. In the bottle he had placed a poem, his address, an old dime, and a 20 cent stamp for the eventual finder to send it back to him. This week, after 37 years, 72 miles, and a couple of floods it was found in Rockport, Missouri.
Daron Peshek of Rockport was walking at The Aspinwall Bend Conservation Area looking for shed antlers from deer when he noticed a couple of green bottles in some trees. His daughter Tenley collects green bottles, so he went over to pick them up and noticed that one of the bottles was sealed up and had a note inside. Daron brought it home and opened it up to find the note that Desh had put in 37 years earlier.
Daron’s wife, Gina Peshek posted photos of the finding on Facebook in hopes of contacting Desh. It turns out Gina’s Co-worker is related to him, which Gina says is hard to believe “It’s Just amazing how we are all connected in this world!”
Gina added that this was a good break from what is going on in the world right now “It feels like great timing for this to all happen. Proof that there is light in the darkest of situations!”
UPDATE:
Gina recently connected with Desh and finally has a beginning to the story. "Bill said this is such a magical moment and he is blown away by it! He didn’t think he would ever see that bottle or note again, let alone actually hear back from someone, and then on top of that, someone that actually knew a family member of his! In 1983, he was 31 and working in a print shop in Omaha. He had gotten off of work late that night so he and a lady friend drove his jeep down to a park north of downtown Omaha to share a bottle of wine. After they finished the wine, they wrote the note and sealed it in the bottle. Tossed it into the river in hopes it would find them again some day." Gina continued "Bill said this was the only time in his life that he ever put a note in a bottle and threw it into the river. He still knows the lady he shared that bottle of wine with and actually went to visit her on Friday evening after finding out about the bottle was found."
Gina says she plans on having her daughter write a note to seal up in a bottle and send it on it's way down the river in the very near future. "Who knows what kinds of fun someone else may have with it, if it is ever found."
