Tecumseh Inmate Dies At Hospital
83-year-old died after serving 24 years of 89-year-sentence

TECUMSEH - An inmate from the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution died at a hospital in Lincoln shortly before 7 p.m. on March 2.
James Malina, age 83, began his sentence on Aug. 5, 1996. He was serving a sentence of 89- to 170-years on charges out of Dodge County that included multiple counts of first degree sexual assault and two counts of child abuse.
While the cause of death has yet to be determined, Malina was being treated for a medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
