Nebraska City Seeks Cyber Breach Protection
Veterans Memorial Building heating and air strategy approved
NEBRASKA CITY -- Nebraska City commissioners agreed Monday to pursue insurance protection against computer hackers.
The city is seeking liability protection in case of a data breach or is faced with expenses to help people with identity recovery.
The city will also seek insurance protection against claims that its retirement funds were not handled properly.
In other action, representatives of architects Leo A Daly were on hand to explain options for a new heating and air conditioning system at the Veterans Memorial Building.
Jim Kuhn of the building’s non-profit corporation said the $300,000 electrical option will require 14 condenser units outside of the building, but those can be hung, stacked and shielded with landscaping.
Claims for Westlake Ace Hardware were not acted upon Monday because of a lack of a majority. Commissioners Vic Johns and Patrick Wehling were absent and Commissioner Paul Davis abstained because of his connection to the store.
