Two Arrested In Syracuse As Deputies Investigate Stolen SUV, Department Of Correction Badges
Deputies say men had possession of stolen items
SYRACUSE – Otoe County sheriff deputies, who were investigating the theft of a Honda SUV from Syracuse Tuesday morning, recovered the car in town and arrested two suspects.
Brent Borrego, 27, of Nebraska City and Mark Pochop Jr., 34, of Syracuse are charged with stealing the vehicle. The owner, who works with the state Department of Corrections, reported that mace, handcuffs, two badges and other duty items were in the car when it was stolen.
An arrest affidavit says sheriff’s deputies found a nylon holster and can of pepper spray in Borrego’s possession. The affidavit says the backpack Borrego was carrying had a syringe with liquid that field tested for methamphetamine.
Both men are charged with theft of the SUV and possession of stolen property.
Bonds were set at $5,000.
