Matthew Steele, 32, of Nebraska City was sentenced to five to 20 years in prison for attempted possession of a firearm on Feb.3.

A sheriff’s deputy arrested Steele after a 9 mm handgun that had been reported stolen out of Omaha was found in his car during a Nebraska City traffic stop. Deputies say a safe in the trunk of the car contained methamphetamine.

A passenger in the car, 39-year-old Dina Liesveld, is scheduled for a court hearing on Aug. 28 on a possession charge.
