SIDNEY – Sheila Von Seggern is seeking the full-time Cheyenne County Treasurer's seat after serving as interim following in 2025 Shelley Bowlen’s retirement.

She has announced her intention to remain in the office.

“I have proudly served the residents of Cheyenne County for a little over a decade. I dedicated a little over 10 years as clerk in the Treasurer’s Office and have now served a little over two months as the appointed county treasurer after applying for the position against two other candidates,” Von Seggern said.

Von Seggern is a Cheyenne County native.

“I was born and raised in Cheyenne County. After I graduated from Leyton High School, I moved to eastern Nebraska to attend Dana College,” she said.

Von Seggern remained in the area for several years before she and her husband moved back to Cheyenne County.

“Upon returning to Cheyenne County, I applied for and was hired to work as a clerk in the Treasurer’s Office where I have continued to work ever since,” she said.

She said she looks forward to working with people who have helped shape who she is, and who her children will become. If elected, she plans to use what she learned from Bowlen.

“I worked closely with Shelley prior to her retirement and learned a lot about the position and its requirements from her before she left. She provided me with a wealth of information that I plan to use to modernize how the Treasurer’s Office operates,” she said.
