Knights and Indians Advance in Postseason GBB

Subdistrict D1-1 Finals will feature WW and LCC

WEEPING WATER, NE - The number one and number three seeds advanced to the Subdistrict D1-1 Finals in Tuesday girls basketball, as heard on Otoe County Country.

In the opener, host Weeping Water grounded the Sterling Jets, 65-15. The Indians were up 22-4 after the first frame and coasted from there. WW was led by freshman Ella Huskey. The youngster poured in 30 points - going 8/10 at the free throw line - and secured ten rebounds. Clara Meyer added a dozen points; while Kallie Brack filled the stat sheet with eight points, eleven boards, eight assists, and five steals. Sterling was led by Braylee Houghton's nine-point effort. The Jets' season ends with a mark of 7-18, while Weeping Water is now 16-9.

The Indians will go up against Lourdes Central Catholic for the Subdistrict D1-1 Title on Thursday after the Knight fought back from double figures to beat Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, 56-43. HTRS held a 23-12 lead at intermission, but the second half was all Knights. LCC scored 44 points after recess, led by Lilly Madison & Amelia White in the comeback. Madison scored 22 with eleven in the final frame, while White dropped in 19 total, including ten in the fourth. Kenadi McClarnen led the Titans with 15. HTRS ends the season at 12-12, while LCC is now 14-9.
