Prison ordered on weapons charges

FALLS CITY- Alex Morado, 54, was sentenced to two years in state prison for possession of a weapon by a prohibited person on May 10.

He was also sentenced for possession. A habitual criminal charge was dropped.

A sheriff’s deputy says the K9 Freya detected narcotics in a car parked at the Dollar General in Humboldt and methamphetamine was found, along with a fixed blade knife.

 David Wells, 42, of Humboldt was sentenced to one to two years in prison for attempted possession of a firearm in November of 2024 and a consecutive one to two years for possession of more than a pound of marijuana.

The Richardson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska Game and Parks served a search warrant in Humboldt. An affidavit says nine pounds of marijuana was found.

Michaela Gutierrez Maldonado, 30, was fined $750 for attempted possession on Feb. 22.

The Omaha woman was stopped on Highway 75 and a deputy says THC wax was found.
