NEBRASKA CITY- Central Avenue was temporarily blocked off Wednesday afternoon after a natural gas leak was discovered between the Rowe Safety Complex and the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum.

Museum volunteer Dave Silcox was working outdoors and said he heard a hissing sound when the noise of traffic died down. He investigated to find a leak near the museum office and called 911.

Nebraska City Utilities had do to some digging, but was able to shut off the unmetered line. The gas leak was reported around 3:09 p.m.
