Johnnie R. Miller, 70, Sidney, IA

Johnnie R Miller, 70, of Sidney, IA, passed away on August 6, 2025 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
He was born on October 5, 1954 in Fairfax, MO; the son of Johnnie E. and Lula M. (Honea) Miller. He attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1972.
Johnnie proudly served in the U.S. Army for 20+ years. He entered the Army on August 31, 1974 and was honorably discharge on September 30, 1994. He later worked at American Meter Company in Nebraska City; for the Sidney, IA Schools and at Eaton Corporation until his retirement in 2016. He later drove the Sidney School Bus.
Family members include his wife Wendelin of Sidney, IA: daughters Cali and Evie Miller of Sidney; and sons Derrick Miller, of Nebraska City, NE, Johnathon Miller, of Nebraska City, and Kyle (Tina) Miller of Ravenwood, MO, Matthew Miller of Martinsville, OH and Kurt Miller Speed currently stationed at Holloman AFB in New Mexico; three grandsons, Caidyn James Miller, Daxton Ray Miller and Lincoln Kane Miller; a brother Lelan (Betsy) Burge of Hamburg, IA, sisters: Johna Pierce of Farragut, IA and Teresa (Art) Moyer of Excelsior Springs, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Lula Miller, brother Lester (Bonnie) Burge, and sisters Lucille (Jack) Woodall and Baby Rebecca.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Nebraska City with Pastor Keith Hunt officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the church following the memorial service.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (8/15) at the church.
Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City is in charge of arrangements.
