NORFOLK, Neb. -- The apartment fire that took place in Norfolk this afternoon was attended by multiple fire departments. 

Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to an apartment fire on 5th St. and Verges Ave. in Norfolk. Upon arrival, they were assisted by firefighters from Hader, Battle Creek, Pierce, Hoskins, and Woodland Park.

"We're still investigating, but we received a report of a fire originating from a second-floor deck,” said Norfolk Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Trever O’Brien. "When we arrived, Norfolk P.D. was evacuating the building. They initially rescued one person and an animal. No injuries were reported , but this will still be an active scene for sometime.

O'Brien also stated. "There is still a lot to uncover and investigate, but the apartment complex should be salvageable."
