River Country awarded five civic and community center grants

LINCOLN - Civic and community center grants to Humboldt, Salem, Tecumseh, Nemaha and Auburn are among $5.5 million statewide grants announced Wednesday by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
The state announced 10 communities receiving awards for construction projects and 11 are receiving funds for planning.
Three River Country communities are awarded $15,000 matching grants for planning.
Humboldt will pursue an engineering study to repair its swimming pool, which was constructed in 1951.
Salem pursues architectural plans to renovate the community building.
Tecumseh seeks a feasibility study for a multi-purpose community space.
Capital construction grants
Auburn received a $562,000 matching grant for renovations to the swimming pool and sports court facility at Legion Memorial Park.
The Village of Nemaha received a $37,000 matching grant to expand the existing Nemaha Memorial into the Community Building Memorial Park by converting unused green space between the memorial and the newly constructed community building into a landscaped community space. The project includes a flag pole, sitting wall, paver walkway and arboreal plantings.
The largest grant of $1.1 million goes to the City of Papillion for the Papio Bay Aquatic Center.
