LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Agriculture has confirmed another case of bird flu, this time in a flock in Johnson County.

The latest case of highly pathogenic avian influenza was found in a commercial broiler flock. It is the sixth detected this year and comes two weeks after officials reported cases in backyard flocks.

Iowa also recently reported an additional case, which was found in an egg-laying flock in O’Brien County near Sioux Center.

The case, reported on Dec. 14, was Iowa’s fourth H5N1 HPAI case detected this month.
