FALLS CITY - Tonya Beccard, 46, is charged in Richardson County with theft and criminal mischief on March 29.
A sheriff’s office affidavit says deputies were dispatched on a report of a person walking on Highway 73 and found Beccard barefoot. She told deputies she had been in an accident and got into a patrol car. Deputies say Beccard was driven around, but could not find the accident.
Deputies found a Subaru, which belongs to 66-year-old Rose Adkins, in a tree line with disabling damages.
Investigators say Beccard, who is listed as homeless in court records, took the car without permission and willingly drove it into the field.

A Richardson County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says trace amounts of methamphetamine was found after a Highway 75 traffic stop near Dawson.
Benjamin Marion, 51, of Skidmore, Mo., is suspected of delivery and possession of a deadly weapon on March 16.
A deputy sheriff told the court the K9 Freya was utilized in a traffic stop where a machete, knife and 10 grams of methamphetamine were found.
Daniel Werner, 35, of Falls City is charged with accessory to a felony on Oct. 3, 2024.
A Falls City police officer says he was investigating outstanding warrants and although a wanted person briefly opened the door the door was shut and then Werner opened. The deputy said Werner provided false information in claiming that he did not know the person the deputy was after. The affidavit says that when another deputy made contact with the wanted person, Werner denied access to his property.
