BRUSH, Colo. – A busy weekend for the Brush Police Department resulted in multiple arrests, the recovery of stolen vehicles and the seizure of illegal drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, following a series of proactive investigations.

On Sunday evening, officers initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 white Chevrolet pickup connected to a tip received early Thursday morning. The anonymous report had warned that the vehicle was heading westbound on I-76 into Morgan County and may have contained methamphetamine, fentanyl and firearms.

Officers located the pickup parked at a local residence over the weekend and discovered the temporary license plate was fictitious. Upon initiating the stop, officers identified the driver as Stephan Waller, 36, and the passenger as Dyllon Kahrs, 40.

With assistance from Fort Morgan Police Department K9 Officer Dusty Quick and K9 Ripp, officers conducted a vehicle search. K9 Ripp positively alerted for the presence of narcotics, and officers found approximately 50 fentanyl pills, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia consistent with narcotics distribution. Kahrs was also found to be in possession of several fentanyl pills.

Further investigation confirmed the Chevrolet pickup had been reported stolen out of Aurora, and the temporary tag on the vehicle was forged.

Waller, who police say has an extensive and violent criminal history, was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. He faces charges including: Motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, forgery and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Kahrs was arrested and is being held on a $5,000 bond for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Later that evening, Brush officers on patrol at the Love’s truck stop discovered another stolen vehicle, this one reported out of Sedgwick County. Police also made five additional arrests over the weekend involving various misdemeanor and felony charges.

“This is an excellent example of proactive policing and teamwork,” the department said in a statement, thanking Fort Morgan Police and K9 Officer Quick and K9 Ripp for their assistance.
