Nemaha County voters to decide Brownville recalls, Johnson fire station

AUBURN - The ballot in Nemaha County includes contested races for Auburn school board and city council third ward, as well as a recall question for Brownville board chairman Martin Hayes and board member Colleen Volkmer.
There are three candidates for two seats on the Brownville Village Board. Candidates are incumbents Carol Furnas and Kim Johnson and Paul Fish.
Fish is asking the district court for an injunction preventing the Brownville Village Board from spending funds he says were approved at an Oct. 8 meeting.
A complaint filed by Fish says Board Chairman Martin Hayes and members Colleen Volkmer and Carol Furnas voted in favor of funds to build an office for the village.
The complaint says there was not proper notice for the meeting.
The court has issued a summons for Chairman Hayes and Village Clerk Heather Pemberton.
There are also four candidates seeking three seats on the Johnson Village Board.
Running for three seats on the Auburn School Board are James Paschal, Grant Brueggemann, Eli Davidson and Janny Crotty.

Candidates for Ward 3 Auburn City Council are Johnny Curtright and Seth Bingham. Incumbent Jeff Jeanneret served 12 years on the council, but is not seeking re-election. He listed updating fire equipment and vehicles among council accomplishments during his term.
There are four candidates for three seats on the Nemaha Village Board. They are George Childers, Michael Hall, Jeannie Montanelli and Randall Simon.
The Village of Johnson is asking voters for authority to for $950,000 in bonds for a 4,000-square-foot addition to the fire station.
