NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday.

The agenda includes the quarterly Veterans Memorial Building report, a charity wine tasting at Lied Lodge, city retirement plan, bids for the north 11th Street trail project and hiring of a professional fundraiser to raise funds for a new sports complex.

Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce is planning a tree lighting on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the courthouse lawn. The Peru Bobcats Choir and a free ornament for the first 100 attending.

The city will consider a resolution to consider micro-TIF.

An agreement with High Level Promotions is proposed to generate funds from sponsorships and donations for the sports complex.

The city’s trails committee has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the state Game and Parks Commission’s trail program. The Nelson Foundation has committed $300,000 for the $563,000 project.

The city passed a task order in 2018 to study its master trail plan, which would total $3.5 million.

Completing the sidewalk from the 11th Street bridge to the softball complex was identified as the next step.
