Ed DeJonge, 90, of Humboldt

Edward “Ed” Eibo DeJonge, 90, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on December 26, 1933, in Macon, Nebraska to Eibo and Elise (Schmidt) DeJonge. In 1936, the family moved to rural Humboldt where Ed attended Northwest Star country school and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1952.
On June 10, 1956, Ed was united in marriage to Edna Hahn at the Charter Oak Christian Church. To this union four children, Lynn, Arlan, Tim, and Christi were born. The couple lived and raised their family in the Humboldt area. Ed farmed with his brothers and later in life drove school bus for HTRS Public Schools. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Ed passed away at his home in Humboldt on Saturday, October 12, 2024, having reached the earthly age of ninety years, nine months, and sixteen days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edna, infant son Arlan, brothers Lammert (Emma Lee), George (Lucille), Ommo (Marilyn) DeJonge, nephews David, Leland and Alan DeJonge and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene O'Brien (Tom) and Norma Bray (Leonard).
Ed is survived by his sons: Lynn DeJonge of rural Humboldt, Tim DeJonge of rural Humboldt, daughter Christi Schneider of Lincoln, 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Llewellyn officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.
A register book will be available for signing from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
