Lourdes Central Catholic Deals Weeping Water Its First Loss of 2024
NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights handed the Weeping Water Indians their first loss of the season on Friday in an impressive homecoming win, 62-14.
The teams were all knotted up at eight after the first quarter, but LCC then outscored WW by 16 points in each of the next three quarters. Weeping Water lost its leading tackler just a couple plays into the contest, while Lourdes CC was without its bruising running back & stellar defender Bob Honeysuckle...who still managed to put on his Homecoming King sash while on crutches.
The Knights came away with a 3-0 win in the turnover category, and they unofficially held a more than two-to-one lead in yardage at 449-222. Lourdes ran the football for 284 yards, while giving up 98 yards on the ground to WW.
Quarterback Callen Schnitzer ran it in once & threw for four scores - two each to Blue Oggs & Brady Schnitzer. Oggs tacked on a running touchdown, while Brady Schnitzer added an interception on defense.
For Weeping Water, Luke Harms found pay dirt once on the ground, and Owen Seger had a TD catch.
Weeping Water hosts Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer this Friday at 7pm on B103, while Lourdes CC will visit Johnson County Central.
