Peru State Football Squad Grounds CMU Eagles

PERU, NE - The Peru State football team defeated the Central Methodist Eagles in their home opener, 35-3, on Saturday, September 7. The Bobcats are now 2-0 to start the season. This is the Bobcats' first time starting a season 2-0 since 2017.
The Bobcats had 297 passing yards and 202 rushing yards against the Eagles. The team only let the Eagles have 104 total offensive yards in the game.
The Bobcats scored early in the first quarter. Stacian Livingston started the drive with a five-yard rush before a pass from Colin Shields was completed to Kaleb Herbel for 73 yards and the first touchdown for the Bobcats.
On the Bobcats' second drive, Colin Shields had a complete pass to Kaleb Herbel for 15 yards to the Central Methodist 32 yard line. A completed pass to Jordan Kempf for 32 yards scored the second touchdown for Peru State, as they now led 13-0.
Colin Shields had a complete pass to Dominic Winn for 14 yards to the Peru State 34. Ricky Fulton then had a 66-yard rush for the Bobcats' third touchdown of the quarter. The Bobcats led 19-0.
Mason Benjamin blocked a punt which fell out the back of the endzone, leading to a team safety. The Bobcats went into halftime up 21-0.
In the third quarter, the Bobcats extended their lead after a two-yard pass to Daylan Jones from Colin Shields scored another Bobcat touchdown. The Bobcats were then up 28-0.
The Eagles scored their first points of the night in the fourth quarter with a field goal after multiple tackles by Louibens Wright. The Bobcats scored their final touchdown with a 13-yard complete pass to Richard Ransom. The Bobcats won the game 35-3.
Colin Shields had 15 completions for 252 yards resulting in two touchdowns along with 21 rushing yards. Ricky Fulton had a total gain of 107 rushing yards with the longest being 66 yards and scoring a touchdown. Stacian Livingston had a total of 60 rushing yards for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats had a total 297 receiving yards during the game with Kaleb Herbel having 130 yards, the longest being 73 yards. Jordan Kempf had a total 75 yards receiving.
Aaron Woods had six total tackles with four solo tackles. Louibens Wright also had six tackles with three being solo. Mason Benjamin had five total tackles with four being solo tackles. Duke McClinton had five tackles with one being solo.
