tornado watch

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 23 counties including portions of River Country until 5 p.m. today.

A tornado watch includes Fremont, Mills, Montgomery and page counties in Iowa.

A tornado watch for Atchison County, Mo, includes the cities of Faiirfax, Rock Port and Tarkio.

In southeast Nebraska, Cass, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline and Seward counties are in the watch area.

This includes Sidney, auburn, Falls city, Hamburg, Nebraska City, Pawnee City, Plattsmouth, Shenandoah and Tecumseh.

Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has level 3 enhanced risk for portions of eastern Nebraska and level 4, moderate risk, for southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri. The threat is expected to peak in the afternoon to early evening. Large hail is expected with supercell development and strong tornadoes are possible from northwest Missouri into southeast Minnesota.

7:50 a.m. - Sioux Gateway Airport reports 70 mph wind in Woodbury County, Iowa

7:32 a.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning for Montgomery and Page counties in Iowa.

7:29 a.m. – Emergency Management reports flash flooding in Guthrie County at Springbrook State Park area.

7:17 a.m. – OPPD reporting 10,000 power outages in Douglas and Sarpy counties. Saunders county has 642outages and 175 in Dodge. Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives reports 74 outages in Woodbury County, 11 in Pottawattamie County.

7:06 a.m. - Tornado warning for portions until 7:30 a.m. for portions of Fremont and Page counties in Iowa.

6:54 a.m. – Thunderstorm warning for Nemaha and Otoe County until 7:15 a.m.

6:42 a.m. – Public reports flash flooding in Douglas County, 1-inch hail in Douglas County. Trees and branches down. Ramp on Highway 75 southbound in Omaha is flooded

6:28 a.m. – Severe thunderstorm watch for Cass, Johnson, Otoe, Nemaha counties through 9 a.m.
