OMAHA  - The Omaha Public Power District is joining Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha Tuesday for a TREEmendous Arbor Day celebration, which was born in Nebraska City in 1872.

OPPD will provide educational material about how trees can help reduce energy usage for about 2,000 elementary students. Children will  make pinecone bird feeders and plant a tree. For the program from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

At 11:30 a.m., OPPD foresters will enlists students from Fort Calhoun Elementary School to plant an American yellowwood tree in the festival garden.
