JOHNSON – The 60th anniversary of the Father’s Day Chicken BBQ in Johnson is coming with the new branding of “Chickenfest.”

Chamber President Brianna Haith told the Johnson Rag that the team is trying out the new name for the milestone anniversary.

She said Chickenfest encompasses all of the events and creates a new brand that people will look forward to for years to come.

The Johnson 2024 Chickenfest is set Saturday, June 15.

The chamber earlier announced headliner Casey Donahew  for a major country concert in the street-dance style of the barbecue’s history.

JOHNSON – The Johnson Father’s Day Barbecue announced a headline event for this summer’s annual event with a street dance featuring country music top 10 chart artist Casey Donahew.

Brianna Haith: “Johnson is going to be celebrating our 60th anniversary of the chicken barbecue. It started in 1965, so this year will be the 60th year.

Those of you who are from the area might remember what used to be, back in the day when the Rumbles would come to town and this street was packed. That is what our goal was this year. Let’s make it something big.”

The street dance is scheduled Saturday, June 15.
