School plans Veterans Day observances

NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Public Schools has scheduled Veterans Day observances on Friday, Nov. 10, and Monday, Nov. 13.
Veterans Day, Nov. 11, is celebrated nationally on Saturday.
The Nebraska City Middle School will host a breakfast for veterans at the lower level of the Memorial Building from 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday.
Monday, Nov. 13

The middle school will hold a Veterans Day program at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13.
The high school will host an 11 a.m. ceremony with a musical salute by the Pioneer’s concert band and keynote speaker Mayor Bryan Bequette.
Hayward Elementary School will hold a Veterans Day assembly at 2 p.m. in the gym with the National Anthem performed by the Nebraska City High School Band. A Veterans Day proclamation, tribute to veterans present and military song tribute are planned.

Veterans Day Recognition
Nebraska City Public Schools is dedicated to saluting Veterans Day with heartfelt events designed to honor our nation’s veterans. With Veterans Day observed on Saturday, November 11th, we have scheduled tributes on several dates across our schools for broader community participation. Please join us in these expressions of respect and gratitude for those who have served in our armed forces.
Here’s a snapshot of the planned activities by building:
Nebraska City High School On Monday, November 13th at 11:00 am, we will gather in the High School Auditorium for a Veterans Day Assembly. The Nebraska City High School Concert Band will provide a musical salute, and we are honored to announce Mayor Bryan Bequette as our keynote speaker. We extend an open invitation to all veterans, their families, and community members to attend this poignant celebration.
Nebraska City Middle School Veterans, please join us on Friday, November 10th from 7:30 am to 10:00 am for a heartfelt gesture of thanks - a complimentary breakfast for veterans, hosted by the Nebraska City Middle School National Honor Society. This will be held in the Memorial Building’s lower level, a fitting location for such a tribute. The commemoration continues on Monday, November 13th at 9:00 am in the Middle School Gymnasium with a Veterans Day Program. Anticipate a morning of respectful observances led by the Nebraska City Middle School Band and the Student Council. This gathering is open to the public, and we encourage veterans, their families, and fellow community members to join us.
Hayward Elementary School The Veterans Day Assembly will commence on Monday, November 13th at 2:00 pm in the Hayward Gymnasium with an opening address and the National Anthem performed by the Nebraska City High School Band. This will be followed by a reading of the Veterans Day Proclamation, a tribute to the veterans present, and a message honoring the significance of the day.
The band will then play a series of military songs to pay homage to the armed services. Northside Elementary School
At Northside Elementary, we are deeply committed to engaging our students in a series of
interactive and educational activities designed to foster a deeper understanding, appreciation, and
honor of Veterans Day. Within their classrooms, students will actively participate in curated projects
and discussions that not only teach them about the significance of the day but also involve them in
meaningful acts of tribute to our nation’s veterans. Through these immersive experiences, we aim
to instill a sense of reverence and acknowledgment for the sacrifices made by our service
members.
