Rayhel wins Stretch Across Nebraska award
Photo or video of healthy activity could win $500 for the school of choice
NEBRASKA CITY – The AppleJack Festival was the scene for the first local winner of the statewide Stretch Across Nebraska award.
Medica and News Channel Nebraska are sponsoring the program to encourage good health. People who submit a photo or video of their healthy activity could win a donation of $500 in their name to the school of their choice.
Amanda Rayhel of Weeping Water and founder of Someday Wellness submitted a video from a public participation portion of the Applejack Fitness Competition.
Rayhel: “It was really fun to watch that, but what they did is, in the middle of it, they invited all the children that were there to have a little competition of their own, so my seven-year-old participated in that and he really enjoyed it.”
Rayhel spoke with Ben Root on the B103 FM morning show Monday.

Rayhel: “You know what movement is so important and I think it’s underrated. Whether it’s outside walking or going to the gym, doing something fun – I played five games of volleyball yesterday soaked up the sun – you know just keep moving because when you stop doing it you lose it.”
People of all ages are welcome to submit and winners are named each week through April. Rayhel said
Rayhel chose Lourdes Central Catholic for her donation.
