FALLS CITY -  Richardson County has filed a fugitive from justice charge against Ronald Wooden, 53.

A Kansas warrant says Wooden fled a traffic stop in Jackson County on May 7, interfered with law enforcement and had no valid driver’s license.

Wooden was arrested in Richardson County after spike strips were used near Dawson.

An extradition hearing is scheduled June 26.

Wooden is scheduled for preliminary hearing on Wednesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, willful reckless driving and no operator’s license on May 7.

Judge Richard Smith has ordered a competency evaluation.

Wooden, who gained notoriety when his case led to the disarmament of a police force in the Mexican city of Taxco and a government investigation into multiple torture complaints, objected last month to court proceedings in Richardson County.
