Huskers get commitment from Bellevue West QB Kaelin

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Just days after missing out on the nation's top quarterback recruit, the Nebraska football team has landed another prized recruit at the position...and it didn't have to go far to find him.
While Nebraska was unable to land Dylan Raiola, who committed to Georgia last week, the Huskers were able to land one of the best in-state recruits in Bellevue West's Daniel Kaelin.
Kaelin had previously committed to Missouri before announcing his de-commitment from the Tigers on Friday.
The 2024 prospect announced his commitment to the Huskers on Saturday morning.
As a junior, Kaelin threw for 3,186 yards and 36 touchdowns. The Thunderbirds reached the state quarterfinals in Class A before falling to state runner-up Gretna.
At the time of his commitment to Missouri, Kaelin becam,e the second in-state quarterback in as many years to commit to a major program outside of the Huskers' Big Ten footprint. Gretna quarterback Zane Flores signed with Oklahoma State in the Cowboys' most recent signing class.
Kaelin is expected to join a Nebraska quarterback room that currently includes Jeff Sims, Chubba Purdy and Heinrich Haarberg.
Bellevue West will open up the 2023 season with back-to-back home games against Creighton Prep and Omaha North.
