Lanina “Nina” June Condon, age 79, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 under the care of Hillcrest Hospice at Midlands Living Center. Lanina was born on June 14th, 1943 on a farm near Wisner, NE to Alvin “Butch” Eggers and Olga (Renner) Eggers. She was married to Ronald Lee Condon on March 8th, 1964, in Leigh, NE.

 

Lanina attended Lee High School where she graduated in 1961 then went onto work at Dale Electronics in Colombus, NE where she met Ron. After moving a number of times, Lanina and Ron landed in Tabor. As the years went by, Lanina was a staple in the community having served countless years on the Tabor Rescue Squad and running businesses with Ron, such as Ron and Lanina’s Tavern and R&L Service. Lanina worked many years as a dietary supervisor at Tabor Manor but may be most remembered as the smiling face in the local grocery store. Once retired, all of her time was devoted to family, especially her grandchildren.

 

Lanina was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Marlene Liermann and William “Bill” Eggers and 2 sons, Terry and Todd Condon. She survived by her daughter, Robin Condon Poole and husband Andrew of Council Bluffs, IA; 4 grandchildren Elizabeth Lundvall, Jordyn Poole, Olivia Poole, and Thomas Poole all of Council Bluffs, IA; daughter-in-law, Patricia Napolitano of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

 

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA with Pastor Susan Reed of the Tabor Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.  Visitation with the family greeting friends will be from 1:00 PM until service time Monday.  Interment of ashes will follow in the Tabor, IA Cemetery and, in lieu of flowers, memorials will go to the family.  The Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA is in charge of arrangements.

 

The family would like to acknowledge Hillcrest Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Lanina in her last days. They would also like to acknowledge the loving staff at Tabor Manor and Midlands Living Center.
