Gigstad leads resource district association

Syracuse veterinarian serves 30 years on NRD board

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Association of Resources Districts elected Dr. Orval Gigstad of Syracuse as board president at a March 6 meeting.

Gigstad has served on the Nemaha NRD board since 1993 and the NARD board since 1996.

He also serves as chair of the National Association of Conservation Districts Northern Plains Region. Previously, Gigstad served as NARD president from 2002-2004.

 A practicing veterinarian for more than 45 years, he operates the Arbor Valley Animal Clinic in Syracuse. Gigstad and his wife Carolyn have two children, Grady and Amber, and grandchildren, Quincy and Amelia.

Other officers are Marty Graff of Ainsworth, Ryan Reuter of Minatare and Jim Eschliman of Ericson.

Russel Callan of the Lower Loup NRD and J. Scott Sobotka of the Lower Big Blue NRD were elected to the NRD managers committee.
