NEBRASKA CITY – The National Random Acts of Kindness Day is Friday, but the Nebraska City Middle School is promoting good will all month long with a new kindness wall.

Seventh graders in Mrs.  Leisha Pickerill’s art class made the wall display with suggestions for kind acts stuffed in envelopes and instructions for kindness in four easy steps.

Students can take a card and share it with someone else or put it back for the next kindness-ready middle schooler.

School Counselor Katie Meredith said the wall really puts the kids in charge and allows them to take ownership of the random acts of kindness.

In addition, United Against Violence in Otoe County had planned to deliver a cookie for every student in the county’s schools for the national Random Acts of Kindness Day. The delivery has been canceled due to snow.

Yard signs are also being distributed to spread the message that “kindness starts with you.”
