FALLS CITY - Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise says $262,000 in federal tax credits has a duplex project at Wilderness Falls III heading toward groundbreaking.

Excel Development Group is developing a $4.7 million, 16-unit project for senior housing, which has previously received $500,000 from the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority.

Falls City EDGE and private landowners are selling lots for the development and the City of Falls City is paying half of the cost for a new street.

Wilderness Falls III is located near Falls City Community Medical Center, where Wilderness Falls I and II are developed.

Lucas Froeschl of Falls City EDGE said the need for additional housing is at the foundation of workforce development.

He said seniors downsizing to a duplex can open up a three or four-bedroom house for families.
