JOHNSON - The Johnson Rag reports changes ahead for the Father’s Day Chicken BBQ at Johnson.

The 2023 barbecue meal will remain on Sunday, June 18, but the 2024 Father’s Day Chicken BBQ meal will be scheduled on Saturday, June 16.

Community members attending a recent meeting discussed the change.

 

 

Rag: “Those encouraging and promoting the change feel that moving the meal to Saturday evening would allow volunteers to celebrate Father’s Day with their families and allow time to rest and/or clean up on Sunday before returning to work on Monday. Promoters also encouraged the change to see if attendance could be increased with a Saturday evening meal.”

Members felt that waiting until 2024 to make the change will provide sufficient time to revamp the entire celebration.

The chicken BBQ will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2024.
