Linda Sue Heywood (Penry), age 71, of Randolph, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at her home following a long illness. Linda was a wonderful, generous, selfless woman who was passionate about her family and serving her community. Linda’s service to her community was recognized by Governor Kim Reynolds when she was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2017. 

 

Linda was born on January 11, 1951, to Charles and Wilma Penry. Linda grew up in Randolph, Iowa with her parents and three additional siblings, Pam, Cindy, and Dennis. Linda graduated from Iowa Western Community College where she earned a degree in nursing.

On March 29, 1985, Linda was united in marriage to Gail Gilbert Heywood SR. They lived in Randolph together and had two children, Alysse and Gail “JR” Heywood. Linda had three grandchildren, Melanie, Jaxton, and Avalee. Linda adored and spoiled her grandchildren; they were her life.

 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Wilma Penry, and her two infant children, Michelle Renee Kilpatrick and Steven Scott Kilpatrick.

Linda‘s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Linda’s kind spirit, passion for her family, love of reading, and zest for life will live on through them. Linda was a true inspiration to all who knew her.

 

There will be a Celebration of Life 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Randolph, IA Fire Station.  Private disposition of ashes will be at another time.  In lieu of flowers, a memorials will go to the Family. 

The Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor, IA is in charge of arrangements.
