NEBRASKA CITY-B103 Radio in partnership with Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce hosted the Inaugural Band Cadence Competition during Applejack Festival.

One of Applejack Festival's largest draws is the middle school and high school band competition that takes place during the parade.

This year, following the parade the drum corps were invited to perform a cadence which was judged by B103's Kathy McKillip and Marcus Lind

McKillip states the competition is about connecting with area communities on every level.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to partner with NCTC to promote and support our B103-River Country area through the joy of music. It’s no secret that we love covering area high school sports, but music and the arts are equally important to us, and this was a way we could show that. As an inaugural event we feel it went well but every day is a day to learn, and we hope to make it even better in the future. It was a treat, and everyone did well! This is what it’s all about. “

Bands that participated included:  Syracuse High School, Friend Public Schools, Conestoga Jr/Sr High School, Nebraska City High School, Palmyra High School, and Blair High School.

Blair won the Best Overall award, while Palmyra won Judges Choice.
