BLAIR, Neb. -- Authorities in the metro area are investigating an accident that left two in critical condition. 

Washington County Sheriff's Office said, they, along with Blair Fire and Rescue, Kennard Fire and Rescue, and Bennington Rescue responded to the personal injury accident at the intersection of Highway 30 and Country Road 29.

Officials said that a 2014 Jeep Patriot, driven by an 18-year-old female, was westbound on Hwy 30 and a 1996 Plymouth van, driven by a 34-year-old male, was eastbound on Hwy 30. 

Washington County said the Jeep crossed the center line and struck the Plymouth nearly head-on. 

Authorities said that the driver of the Jeep was transported to Nebraska Medicine Hospital (NMH) by Lifenet in extremely critical condition. 

The driver of the Plymouth was taken by Bennington Rescue to NMH in critical condition. 

The accident remains under investigation.
