(Peru, Neb.)--Peru State Athletic Director Wayne Albury recently announced the selection of outfielder Payton Beckmann -- (Syracuse) and men's bowler Isaac Skalak -- (Lincoln) as the Bobcat Athletes of the Month for February.
 
In the month of February, Beckmann had four hits, four RBIs and two doubles in eight at bats leading the 'Cats to a winning record in February.
 
Here's what Beckmann had to say about the honor…
 
"It's pretty exciting because I love to represent this school," said Beckmann. "It's a pretty big honor."

Beckmann and the Bobcats have a doubleheader against the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas on Wednesday, March 9. Then they have a busy weekend with four Heart of America conference games two at Clarke University on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. and two at Mount Mercy on Sunday with the first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
 
Isaac Skalak recently won the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Bowler of the Year as a freshman. Leading the 'Cats to the postseason Skalak helped the 'Cats to a third-place finish at the Heart Championships recently. Peru State's men's bowling is headed to ITC sectionals later this week in Dallas, Texas.
 
Skalak will also be competing in the single's event down in Dallas for a chance to go to the national singles event at the Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois.

"It means to me that all my hard work is continuing to pay off," said Skalak. "And I hope to continue representing Peru State in a good way!"
