Cold shooting in the first half doomed Sioux County Saturday against Banner County, despite the Warriors outscoring the Wildcats 24-19 in the second half.

Banner County went up 10-3 early as a trey by Sioux County’s Tucker Monroe was the only shot to fall in the opening period. The Warriors cold streak continued in the second quarter, as they netted two free throws by Shane Gluth and Jack Hunter and a field goal by Gluth to trail 21-7 at half-time.

Things turned around for the Warriors after the break, but time ran out before they could complete a come-back. Banner County took the win 40-31. Sioux County went 10-of-20 from the free throw line. William Skavdahl led the Warriors with 12 points, followed by Gluth with 11.

Jacob Parsons led the Wildcats with 12, including a seven of 10 showing from the charity stripe.

Warriors Sail Past Wildcats

The Sioux County Warriors improved to 13-8 with a 76-14 drubbing of Banner County Saturday.

Every player on Sioux County’s roster contributed to the scoreboard in the contest that the Warriors controlled from the outset. Sioux County shut out the Wildcats 25-0 in the first eight minutes and led 51-6 at half-time. The Warriors added 25 points in the second half, almost entirely by second and third string players. Sioux County went six of 10 from the free throw line in the game and hit six treys by six different players.

Sioux County was led by Rachel Krein with 15 and Beth Krein with 11. Riley Jones had eight for the Wildcats.
