Auburn removes building from distressed list
Heywood reports new electric, new windows
AUBURN – The Auburn City Council removed buildings at the intersections of Highway 75 and 136 from its distressed list.
The buildings at 1206 J Street, formerly known as the Caples or old Bernard’s building, include five storefronts.
Ruth Heywood purchased the property and has made improvements over the past two years, including new electric and new windows. Heywood said many other cosmetic improvements have been made.
Heywood: “I have been fully dedicated to turning this building back to life in Auburn to further grow our historic downtown economy and preserve a historic icon.”
