Harriett Davis, age 90 of Sidney, IA

HARRIETT  J. DAVIS, age 90 of Sidney, IA died Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA following a brief illness.  Harriett was born May 28, 1931 in Hamburg, IA to Edward J. Schaaf and Hattie L. (Goodner) Schaaf.  She graduated from Sidney High School in 1948.  On March 14, 1953, she was married to Carroll L. Davis, Jr. in Hoopeston, IL.  Harriett was a life time member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and then the Sidney United Faith Church.  She served for many years as the City Clerk for the City of Sidney in Iowa.  She enjoyed being with family and friends after her retirement.  Harriett’s caring personality and humor touched more people than she will ever know.

 

Harriett was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll Davis, Jr.; and a brother, James Edward Schaaf.  She is survived by her daughter, Teri Heiliger and husband K.C. of Lenexa, KS; son, Daniel Davis and wife Diane of Farragut, IA; 3 grandchildren, James Heiliger and wife Susie of Carroll, IA and their children Kate, Jimmy and Louie, Stephanie Lee and husband Steve of Lee’s Summit, MO and Liz Tedder of Sidney, IA; sister in law and husband, Louise and Sam Witty of Hoopeston, IL; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA.  Private interment of ashes will be scheduled for another time in the Sidney, IA Cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established and will be sent to Sidney Fire and Rescue.
