Karen Ann (McMichael) Foster Miller was born April 10, 1940 at the Red Oak, IA Hospital. She passed away September 1, 2021 in her home in Sidney, IA. Karen graduated from Red Oak High School in 1957 and went directly to work for Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, NE.
In 1960 she married Francis (Buck) Foster. In 1961 she quit working to start a family. Her daughter, Cindy, was born May 15, 1961. After Cindy was born, Karen went to work at Union Carbide and, following a lay off, she went to work for Mid-America Energy where she was for 27 years.
Buck passed away in 1990. Karen then married Fred Miller in 1991. When the Sidney Mid-America office closed, she worked for different Child Care businesses. When they all closed, she decided to stay home and be a wife, mother and grandmother.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Oral McMichael and Bertha Mae (Allen) McMichael Dick; first husband, Buck Foster; twin grandsons; and brother-in-law, Harold Hedstrom. She is survived by her husband, Fred Miller of Sidney, IA; daughter, Cindy Adams and husband Mike of Walton, NE; grandson, Chad Adams of Farwell, NE and his fiancé Shakera Chessmore; great grandchildren, James, Claire, Wyatt and Adalyn Adams of Dannebrog, NE; brother, Bill McMichael and wife LaVeria of Appleton, WI; sister, Sandra Hedstrom of Villisca, IA; half brother, Mike Kempton of Mount Ayr, IA; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Karen will be missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA with Chaplain Martin Kalkowski of Acera Care Hospice officiating. Visitation will be with the family greeting friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Sidney, IA Cemetery and memorials will go to Sidney Volunteer Fire & Rescue or the American Cancer Society.
