Syracuse denies urban chickens
Mayor breaks tie vote
SYRACUSE – Syracuse Mayor Deb Dettmer broke a city council tie Wednesday against an ordinance that would allow chickens and other fowl within city limits.
The mayor joined city councilmen Jerry Werner and Orville Gigstad to vote against the proposed ordinance. Council members Laramie Werner and Wes Halvorsen voted in favor.
The ordinance, which was proposed by resident Randy Dunster, was killed on first reading.
