Sheriff: man tried to steal freight truck

SIDNEY – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports an arrest after an attempt to steal a freight truck.

A press release says deputies were called to Interstate 29 on Tuesday for a report of a disabled vehicle and a man walking. Deputies were later notified that a man had attempted to steal a truck in Percival.

James Mall, 42, of Kansas City is suspected of  trying to shift the truck into gear as it was warming up in a Percival driveway.

The press release says Mall walked over to a nearby house when he could not get the truck in gear. He is suspected of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
